Medical Marijuana

Not only would marijuana be able to give a person a high and make them feel good, it is also used to cure people in the medical field too. In 1996, the state of California passed a law by a 56 percent majority vote that marijuana would be legal for use if someone had a medical prescription for it. Since the legalization in California, five other states, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Maine have also followed and legalizing marijuana for medical use. Marijuana can be very helpful in treating illnesses that other drugs do not do a good job treating. The only way to receive medical marijuana legally is by having a prescription from a certified doctor. Then, only if you live in a state in which it is legal, will you be able to use it. Only certified stores are able to sell the drug and only to people with prescriptions are able to purchase it. There are also pain relief doctors that specialize in the use of medical marijuana and are very knowledgeable on the topic.  There are many different things that medical marijuana can treat. Common illnesses that it can treat include chronic pain, nausea, glaucoma, seizure disorders, cancer, diabetes, muscle spasms. People are often hesitant to start using medical marijuana because it is seen as a drug. Well if you think about it, every drug that is prescribed to someone is an illegal drug if they do not have a prescription for it. So why would people be hesitant to start using it if it was said to help.

  1. You brought up a good point. Every prescription is a drug and so is marijuana. People are taking prescriptions everyday. Obviously, no drug is good when abused but I believe that if marijuana was legalized, it wouldn't be abused nearly as much as it is today. People do it in part because it is illegal. For some reason, a lot of people want to do things that they aren't supposed to. I didn't see in your post what it is that marijuana can do for you though. I see what it treats but how does it treat those things? I think the only reason people are hesitant to use it is because it is illegal. Think about it though: there are so many other really bad, even worse drugs that are legal here but no one is scared to try those. It is just because it is illegal.

  2. I do think the big reason why people are hesitant to use the drug is because it is illegal. People see the word illegal and automatically think that it is something terrible when really it could help out our society. We need to get people to realize that there is a bunch of good that can come out of legalizing the drug and it is not all bad
